What is a DAS solution?
A DAS (distributed antenna system) is an in-building infrastructure, often a neutral host network, for expanding the wireless coverage and capacity in hard to reach areas. DAS solutions are prevalent in large areas like universities, commercial office space, convention centers, stadiums, and hospitals among others.
What is our role?
At XCell, we design, deploy and operate fiber DAS networks to improve cell signal strength, network capacity and coverage. You don't have to front a large initial investment to deploy your own in-building network. We handle that. Once live, XCell also manages the infrastructure on a day-to-day basis.
The Technical Details
A neutral host DAS solution provides building owners with a single system to address their wireless needs and provides multiple wireless carriers with a network that allows them to tailor their RF signal to meet their specific coverage and capacity requirements. Remote antennas are strategically placed throughout a building and are connected with fiber back to a hub containing the wireless service provider's equipment.
Why Is DAS a Good Solution for Your Company?
The demand for DAS is continuing to grow at exponential rates. The proliferation of smart phones has dramatically increased data traffic, web browsing, apps and e-Commerce transactions over mobile devices.
With over 80% of cellular calls beginning or ending inside a property, the reliability of your in-building wireless network is crucial. In-building cellular networks have become a demand by tenants, customers and guests - it's not optional. How many times have you heard someone complain about the building (business) they're in not having wi-fi? Or, that the connection is so poor, they cannot send a message?
Wireless companies have allocated significant development budgets to invest in network infrastructure build-outs inside high traffic commercial and campus properties. Owners and property management companies should take advantage of this major wireless deployment opportunity.
